Before founding Homello, I spent nearly a decade in the US as Listings & Distribution Manager at one of the fastest-growing short-term rental operators in the industry. I helped launch, optimise and scale thousands of listings, from mountain cabins in Tahoe to luxury estates in Malibu and newly launched hotels in Miami, generating more than $20 million in monthly booking revenue.
In that role, I worked directly with teams at Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, Vrbo, Marriott and other major booking channels, staying close to product updates, algorithm changes and new features designed to improve visibility and revenue. This gave me a rare, inside view of how the major booking platforms operate, what drives listing visibility, and how to build revenue strategies that help different property types perform at their full potential.
The more experience I gained, the more I realised something was missing. Large operators had incredible systems and technology, but homeowners often became just another property in a growing portfolio.
I wanted to change that by building the kind of company I would want to work with as a homeowner. One that combines the knowledge of how a big operator succeeds with the hands-on care of a local business.
That's why I returned home to Auckland and started Homello.
